Lǐ n pulled Yán Luòxī's hand and walked down the stairs. This was the first time since Yán Luòxī had been confined here that she walked downstairs, her big curious eyes darting around as she quickly and earnestly observed her surroundings.
The living room downstairs was spacious and bright; through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, one could see flowers blooming profusely outside. Clumps of petals and flowers fluttered like countless butterflies in the evening breeze.
Many crystal vases were placed on the ground in the courtyard, each containing a short candle that flickered gently in the evening wind, forming an ethereal heart shape.
The sound of a violin flowed through the air. Lǐ n led Yán Luòxī's hand out of the villa door; the air was filled with the heavy fragrance of flowers, enveloping them and refreshing their senses.
They sat beside an elegant set of furniture where plates were laid with beautiful lilies that appeared serene and tranquil.
The flowing lights created a soft atmosphere, making everything appear dreamlike. Yán Luòxī sitting here felt as if she was living in another world; looking around her, the delicate scenery seemed like the backdrop of a film.
She found it somewhat amusing inside her heart that Lǐ n, who she considered such a monster, would also appreciate this kind of atmosphere.
Lǐ n knew Yán Luòxī loved homemade yogurt cheese and had someone specially make it on the spot. In no time at all, a portion of blueberry cheese was prepared, which he personally served to her.
The white milk topped with fresh blueberry jam looked extremely tempting; Yán Luòxī stared at this cheese for quite some time without touching her spoon.
The events of tonight were too sudden, which scared her a little. Lei An was being so kind to her!
Looking at the cheese in front of her made her think of the poisoned apple held by Snow White's evil stepmother.
"What’s wrong Don’t you want to eat it" Lei An, not realizing that she thought of him as the wicked stepmother from Snow White, was still looking expectantly at Yan Luoxi.
Yan Luoxi took a deep breath and picked up her spoon. She hesitated for a moment before taking a bite. The creamy cold texture combined with the unique taste of blueberries left an aftertaste in her mouth, making it incredibly delicious.
Even if this were a poisoned apple, she would gladly accept it.
In the melodious music, Yan Luoxi finished two servings of yogurt cheese. When she looked up again, she saw Lei An smiling at her with deep affection in his eyes.
A chill ran through Yan Luoxi's heart. It felt like facing an ultimate master while being involuntarily pulled along by him, confused yet unable to resist.
The main course was soon served. Lei An stopped her from eating more cheese and started the meal. After dinner, the sound of the violin continued in the air. Yan Luoxi, who hadn't gone downstairs for days, didn’t want to go back immediately. She bravely shook Lei An's arm, pleading with him that she wanted to stay a while longer and look at the stars.
Lei An rarely saw Yan Luoxi acting so cute, and out of excitement, he readily agreed. He wrapped his arm around Yan Luoxi’s shoulder as she leaned passively into him. They sat in the rocking chair together, looking up at the starry sky.
Yan Luoxi looked up at the stars and couldn't help but think of Zhou Guangtao again.
In these days, she would always remember Zhou Guangtao every day. But whenever she thought about him, she forced herself to think of other things instead because there was no way for her and that man to have any further interaction. Yan Luoxi felt like Li An had bound her onto a war chariot and now she was involuntarily moving forward with him regardless of whether or not she was prepared.
Because dreams are honest reflections of one’s thoughts, every night she would still dream about Zhou Guangtao. The dreams reinforced her longing and deepened her infatuation. She repeatedly told herself to forget Zhou Guangtai, but it seemed futile.
A gentle breeze carrying fragrance brushed past her face. Yan Luoxi's head leaned against Li An’s shoulder, and as her hair swayed softly, she slowly fell asleep.
Li An felt that Yan Luoxi was very still and turned his head to see that she had already fallen asleep; her breathing was light and slow.
In fact, he really enjoyed the sight of Yan Luoxi when she was sleeping. She looked completely different from how she did in her waking hours—quiet and frail like a little baby.
A smile involuntarily appeared on Li An's face; he couldn't resist moving closer to touch her delicate cheek with his nose, causing her to murmur softly as if she had sensed something. Looking at the childish look on her face, his heart softened even more.
The night was incredibly quiet, with air flowing through in a gentle, melodious manner. Li An remained motionless, afraid that moving even slightly would wake Yan Luoxi up.
While Li An guarded Yan Luoxi and savored the taste of love for the first time, someone else had been driven to the brink of despair by anxiety and worry.
Half a month passed without any news about Yan Luoxi; Zhou Guangtao was exhausted and distressed.
The police had no leads regarding Yan Luoxi's disappearance, and Zhou Guangtao couldn't find any trace of Li An even after searching high and low. Zhou Guangtao was truly anxious.
Especially when he thought about the greedy look in Li An's eyes as he stared at Yan Luoxi and his fanatical appearance, he felt an indescribable burning pain, as if being tortured slowly by knives.
In fact, he had long known that if he told a certain person about this matter, it could easily help him find Yan Luoxi within a day; if he informed the same person, Yan Luoxi would no longer be harassed or controlled by Li An.
However, this person had done favors for both him and Yan Luoxi. This person was Li An's biological father. Unless it was absolutely necessary, Zhou Guangtao genuinely didn't want to take this step.
Although Zhou Guangtao lacked sufficient evidence to prove that Li An had taken away Yan Luoxi, he couldn’t bear waiting any longer. Even if the matter wasn’t related to Li An, as Yan Luoxi was still considered a foster daughter of the Li family, asking Li Haonan for help in searching for her shouldn't be too much to ask.
That noon, when Yan Luoxi was napping, Li An happily played with a newly bought small Samoyed downstairs. Thinking about how Yan Luoxi had cried as a child from being scared by the Samoyed, he couldn’t help but smile. He wondered if Little Missy would cry again upon seeing this little dog.
Just then, his phone rang. Li An left the Samoyed and looked at the caller ID—Ming Zixi was calling. After a moment of hesitation, he picked up the call after a while, asking impatiently, "What do you want now" This Ming Zixi seemed incapable of leaving him alone for even a few days; he called endlessly to bother Li An.
"Your brother is here! He just left the airport!" said Ming Zixi urgently.
“What My brother's here” Li An sounded surprised, “How did he suddenly show up without telling me and what does he want”
“How should I know why he came I saw him by chance at the airport. You didn’t see his face; it was colder than Uncle Li’s, terrifying. Without notifying you or me, coming so unexpectedly... Could it be that he knows about those outrageous things you’ve been doing” asked Ming Zixi with obvious concern.'t put you down and let you fall again" Li An was truly irritated this time."Second Brother!" Yan Luoxi cried out, anxiously gripping Li An's neck tighter.Li An was startled by her call, feeling a sli...
