Yan Luoxi used the thicker branches she had found to create a foothold. This time, she was smarter and did not rush forward but moved slowly step by step. However, due to the slippery road and loose rocks and debris in her path, she fell again when she was only two or three meters away from the car.
She lay on the cold ground covered with mud and pebbles, vaguely seeing a twisted, shattered car not far ahead. On the driver's seat, the driver Chen Cheng was motionless, his head full of blood.
The driver Chen Cheng had fastened his seatbelt; it was impossible for someone wearing a seatbelt to be thrown out of the window like she was when the car fell off the cliff. There was no doubt that he was dead!
At the thought of death, Yan Luoxi felt goosebumps rise all over her body.
Where was Li An Was he inside the car or thrown out like her
Li An!
Yan Luoxi looked at the shattered glass behind the car and felt as if a large hole had been punched through her heart. She didn't care about anything anymore, crawling toward the car with all her might until she reached the broken window.
She struggled to stand up and stuck her head into the smashed window. The inside of the car was in shambles and dimly lit, making it impossible for her to see clearly.
"Li An! Li An!" Yan Luoxi's voice was filled with fear, despair, and hoarseness, "Where are you Don't scare me! Li An, please answer me quickly!"
Yan Luoxi called out twice, her vocal cords were hoarse, and she couldn't help but cough quietly. She took a deep breath and looked around; just as she was about to call out again, a familiar, hoarse, faint voice suddenly rang in her ear, "Luoxi..."
She felt her whole body tremble; even though the sound was light, it was everything to her right now.
Yan Luoxi looked around excitedly, but there was nothing except darkness. She thought she had imagined it due to overthinking earlier, when another faint voice sounded, "Luoxi!"
This time, she heard the direction from where the voice came and turned sharply; on a steep slope nearby, she saw a vague black figure.
Yan Luoxi’s body went limp again as she fell back onto the ground. After such prolonged high tension, her sudden relaxation made her collapse, but she desperately wanted to rush to Li An's side and see what was wrong with him. Yet, she lacked even a single bit of strength.
Li An's faint voice sounded once more, "Luoxi!"
"I'm here!" Yan Luoxi suddenly had tears streaming down her face as she choked out the words and forced herself to stand up and stagger towards Li An.
In the weak moonlight, all Yan Luoxi could see was a rough outline of Li An. She anxiously called out, "Li An, how are you feeling Where do you hurt" As she spoke, her hands frantically searched over him, her heart clenching tightly, dreading that what her fingers touched would be empty.
"I'm fine... just a bit dizzy," Li An's breath was ragged; he said he was okay but lay motionless there.
Yan Luoxi held onto Li An’s icy hand tightly. After experiencing such a terrifying disaster, she could still see Li An unharmed in front of her once more, and how grateful she felt to the benevolence of fate for this gift.
"Luoxi... are you okay..." Li An's voice was very soft, more questioning than concerned.
"I'm fine," Yan Luoxi choked out as she nodded.
In the darkness, Li An actually laughed softly. "As long as you're fine... Just now, I was holding onto you... When we fell to the ground... I was still conscious... Thankfully, we landed on muddy ground and dead branches... I checked you over... It doesn't seem like anything serious... It's just that when my body moved again, it slipped down here..."
Listening to Li An's intermittent voice, Yan Luoxi felt incredibly heartbroken. His voice was light and weak, as if they were far apart from each other, faint like a thread of gossamer, about to dissipate at any moment yet still tightly entangled around her heart.
"Li An!"
"Luoxi... I'm so tired... I'll just rest for a bit..." The long sentence he had just spoken seemed to exhaust Li An's spirit; his voice was even weaker now, with quickened breaths. "Don't be afraid... Help will come soon."
"Are you feeling really bad Are you thirsty Let me go find some water for you!" Seeing Li An like this made Yan Luoxi think of the phrase "dying on one's feet," and she felt inexplicably anxious and fearful.
"Don't cry... I'm fine..." Li An's voice grew softer, his appearance even more listless.
"Li An, Li An, don't fall asleep! It's very cold here!" Yan Luoxi tried not to cry anymore, calling out to Li An with a firm voice.
Li An lay motionless there, his face pale and body icy cold.
When he and Yan Luoxi were thrown out of the car, it was still raining. Their clothes were already soaked through, and with temperatures dropping in the middle of the night, signs of frost began to appear around them.
The rainy nights of winter in the southern part of the country are bitterly cold; in some ways, they are no easier to endure than snowstorms in northern regions. This kind of cold seeps into one's bones, and clothing offers little protection—especially since both Yan Luoxi and Li An were already drenched.
Yan Luoxi fumbled through her pockets trying to find her phone to call for help; however, the whereabouts of her mobile was unknown. She then felt through Li An's clothes and finally retrieved what seemed like a hard object that resembled a mobile phone from his belt.
Holding onto Li An’s phone, she discovered it wasn’t damaged despite being thrown out of the vehicle, yet no matter how many times she pressed buttons, the screen remained black.
Yan Luoxi was utterly dejected. She bent down to call out to Li An again but this time he did not even respond with a sound.
"Li An!" Yan Luoxi called softly, tears involuntarily streaming down her face once more. She reached out to touch him and felt his body had turned icy cold; unsure of where he was injured, she dared not move him carelessly.
The night wind whistled eerily, causing the leaves around them to rustle with a sound that only added to Yan Luoxi’s fear and desolation.
Was it possible for this once glorious young master who had everything he wanted and could do whatever he pleased, to die here in these remote wilderness
Yan Luoxi disregarded her own pain, lying down beside Li An on her side, hoping to retain a bit of his body heat.
In the darkness, she unconsciously caressed Li An’s chest which was only slightly warm; she touched his broad shoulders, perfect lips, and prominent nose. When her hand reached his eyes, she wished with all her heart that they were open!rt. His movements back and forth made him feel as though each thrust was reaching deeper than before.Previously, their encounters were also intense, but this time, Yan Luoxi felt Li An exerting more f...
