Yan Luoxi hurried to Li An's bedside and saw him lying there with a flushed face and closed eyes. She touched his forehead; it was so hot that it could cook an egg.
"Li An, Li An..." Yan Luoxi called out to Li An, tears streaming down her face from worry and heartache.
...
"Body temperature is 39.8 degrees!"
"Inflammation of the tonsils, rales in the lungs; initial diagnosis: bronchopneumonia... Quickly do a penicillin skin test..."
...
The hospital Yan Luoxi brought Li An to was still the same one as before. The news that Li An had a fever quickly alarmed the hospital director and department head, who arrived in their white coats running. The internal medicine chief personally examined Li An, while the director accompanied him with concern.
The chief prescribed some medication for Li An, suggesting five days of intravenous therapy as well as oral antiviral drugs. A nurse hurriedly went to fetch the prescription and pay for it, leaving Yan Luoxi by Li An's side.
Li An was still accommodated in one of the best executive ward rooms, which had specialized air filtration equipment and no hospital smell but instead a faint fragrance, with elegant surroundings.
Yan Luoxi looked at Li An lying there as red-faced as a fireball. His beard had grown thick; his eye sockets were sunken, lips cracked, hair disheveled, breathing irregular and slightly quickened due to the fever.
Yan Luoxi felt remorseful, self-reproaching, and heartbroken!
Li An's condition was much worse than she had anticipated. Yet why could she be so merciless as to not visit him for an entire night
Looking at the frail person in bed, Yan Luoxi worried for the first time that Li An might disappear suddenly!
Yan Luoxi secretly reproached herself; what was she so angry about Was it really because of a phone call that they ended up having such an argument
Was she seriously thinking of breaking up with him How naive and childish could she be
Today, how could she leave Li An if he got sick again She wouldn't have any reason to live either.
After everyone’s fussing around him, when the cold medicine was injected into his body, Li An’s long lashes trembled slightly. He opened his eyes and saw Yan Luoxi sitting beside him. He squinted his eyes for a while and asked hoarsely: "Am I not dead"
"You’re an evil menace that lives for thousands of years!" Upon seeing Li An was awake, Yan Luoxi was very happy; hearing what he said made her even more certain that he had deliberately harmed himself. She pinched his hand back in anger and asked: "Did you intentionally make yourself sick Did you do this on purpose"
"Why did you stop caring about me" Li An pouted and complained, looking at Yan Luoxi’s face which was close to him. The smell of her filled the air he breathed in; seeing her, his panicked heart finally calmed down.
Seeing how anxious and worried Yan Luoxi looked, with her flushed face, he felt quite smug when he said: "If you dare leave me one day, I will die to show you."
Hearing Li An’s capricious words, Yan Luoxi was extremely angry. How could a man use his own life as a threat against her
She felt so upset that her nose started to run and her eyes became watery; finally she couldn’t help it and tears fell down, "You… you bastard! Bastard! How can you threaten me like this…"
This arrogant man had given her his feelings which he rarely showed anyone else, but instead of making him feel free, it was binding her. This luxurious chain could take away all her freedom and leave no room for escape.
Seeing Yan Luoxi crying, Li An felt extremely heartbroken; he didn’t have the strength to talk anymore, only holding onto her hand with his burning one, as if afraid that she would run away.
Holding Li An’s hot hand, Yan Luoxi knew how uncomfortable he must be. She stopped arguing about who was right and wrong and instead told him: "You absolutely can’t act so recklessly again in the future! The doctor said your previous illness just got better; you shouldn’t get a fever like this every time!"
"That will depend on how you behave," Li An said weakly but still knew how to haggle.
The anger that Yan Luoxi had suppressed rose again, and she shot him a cold glance.
Lian only seemed to think seriously after that, nodding almost as a favor: "As long as you don't ignore me when you're not interested in others or look at me with such eyes anymore, I might consider changing my temper according to your wishes."
Yan Luoxi was infuriated by Lian's underhanded tactics and raised her hand, intending to punch him on the face. However, she ended up doing nothing after just moving her hand.
Lian felt his body like an unceasing steamer, with every breath feeling hot as fire. He was extremely tired at this moment but continued staring intently at Yan Luoxi without blinking. After a while when he saw that she no longer resisted, he finally smiled contentedly: "Luoxi, I'm exhausted and want to take a nap. You have to stay by my side."
Yan Luoxi nodded, tacitly agreeing.
Lian closed his eyes for a short while before reopening them again, clearly worried that Yan Luoxi might slip away secretly: "Luoxi, why don't you come lie down beside me and sleep together."
Yan Luoxi shot him a glance and turned her head to the side, ignoring him.
The high fever made Lian feel exhausted. His eyelids were heavy as he closed them, holding Yan Luoxi's hand firmly just before doing so.
The ward fell silent instantly; Yan Luoxi set both their phones on silent mode to avoid disturbing his rest.
Sitting by the bedside, Yan Luoxi gazed intently at Lian who was sleeping. The sunlight shone precisely onto his side face. Lian's thick lashes drooped slightly, making him look exceptionally handsome and delicate, evoking admiration for God's favoritism.
As she looked at Lian’s face, Yan Luoxi felt as if under a spell, involuntarily reaching out to touch it. Just then, Lian shifted slightly in his sleep; she quickly retracted her hand.
This perfectly beautiful and delicate face concealed an indulgent, domineering, and cruel personality. To get what he wanted, he would go to any lengths with others and himself without hesitation.
He loved her now but if that day ever came when he no longer did, how would he treat her then
Thinking of this made Yan Luoxi feel inexplicably fearful and anxious, breaking out in a cold sweat.
Lian woke up from the heat; his body was covered in sweat. He felt thirsty and swallowed slightly, making his throat hurt less. Wanting to drink water, he opened his eyes and saw Yan Luoxi leaning her head against the side of his bed, eyes closed as she dozed off beside him.
Yan Luoxi wasn't sleeping deeply. As soon as Li An opened his eyes, she immediately woke up too. Seeing sweat all over Li An's forehead, she quickly took a towel to wipe it off for him and asked with concern: "Li An, how are you feeling Are you better now"
Seeing Yan Luoxi so caring about him, Li An smiled warmly. He licked his lips and in a slightly whiny tone, hoarsely said: "I'm thirsty..."
Yan Luoxi quickly put down the towel, raised Li An's pillow a bit higher, took the water cup, and let him drink some water with her hand.
Af ter drinking enough water, Li An felt more energetic. Suddenly he reached out to hug Yan Luoxi’s waist, "Wife, I'm sorry, forgive me. Let's reconcile, okay"
The hot breath by her ear tickled Yan Luoxi; she had to suppress the impulse to reciprocate Li An's embrace with great effort.
"Wife, let's make up, alright" Li An hugged Yan Luoxi tightly and pleaded啞著嗓子央求。
Just as Yan Luoxi didn't know how to respond, she turned her head and saw that the blood was flowing back in Li An’s IV drip tube, almost reaching the regulator position.
"You quickly let go! The blood is flowing back!"
Yan Luoxi shouted loudly; Li An was startled into releasing his grip on her waist obediently.
This moment a nurse came in to change Li An’s dressing. Seeing that he had woken up, the specially assigned nurse outside brought in a tray of delicately prepared congee and small dishes: "Mr. Li, the doctor instructed that you need to eat something once you wake up; it's good for your recovery."
Li An glanced at the special care attendant then looked at Yan Luoxi beside him, "Luoxi, you must be exhausted today. I'm going to eat now, you...you need to rest a bit..." his hand was still tightly holding Yan Luoxi's though.
How could Yan Luoxi not understand what Li An meant Looking at the weak and listless Li An lying in bed, her heart softened. She took the tray from the special care attendant’s hands with a gentle smile: "You all can go out now; I'm not tired. Let me serve him his congee."
She watched as the nurse and special care attendant left before turning back around to see Li An, who had just moments ago been weak and listless, now struggling to sit up on his own. Although he still looked ill, his eyes were full of excitement.
Yan Luoxi was startled; she couldn't help but ask softly: "What's wrong Li An, why did you get up by yourself"hild.""Your presence itself is an injury to me and my child. Leave now, leave immediately from here. Stay far away from both me and my child. No one welcomes you here," Yan Luoxi held her belly tightl...
